“Chile, your best bet” virtual fair seeks to strengthen the tourism industry’s marketing chain

“Chile, your best bet” virtual fair seeks to strengthen the tourism industry’s marketing chain
The 100% online event begins on Wednesday and will feature all that tourism has to offer in each of Chile’s regions. The series begins this week with highlights from Tarapacá, Valparaíso, Ñuble and Los Lagos.

In an effort to encourage the reactivation of the local tourism industry and travel within Chile, the Tourism Undersecretary’s Office and the National Tourism Service (SERNATUR) will hold a virtual event that will showcase all that tourism has to offer in each of the country’s regions, just as peak season approaches.

“Chile, your best bet” is the name of the event, which will present highlights of each of the country’s destinations and seek to strengthen the tourism industry’s marketing chain. The event will include seminars and business matchmaking events among Chilean tour operators and regional suppliers, all in one place: www.chiletumejorapuesta.cl.

For Tourism Undersecretary José Luis Uriarte, this virtual fair speaks of how important it is for local residents to explore Chile. “Internal tourism is responsible for 60% of the sector’s impact on the national economy. This shows that it is and will continue to be critical to reactivating the sector. More than saying that Chile has marvelous landscapes and countless places to visit, we should be the first to explore them. Chile is a well-known travel destination the world over, and has even won several awards. We must appreciate what we have and learn about the different experiences our country has to offer,” he stated.

The event will be held in four parts. Each week will feature a different set of regions, destinations and experiences. Highlights from Tarapacá, Valparaíso, Ñuble and Los Lagos will be the focus of the first installment of the series, which will take place on Wednesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 28.

Andrea Wolleter, SERNATUR National Director, emphasized, “we want to show off Chile through its regions. That is why our teams, distributed throughout the country, will staff the 40-plus stands in collaboration with local businesses, offering first-hand information about the best of each destination and their related experiences. This is a great opportunity for Chileans to drive economic reactivation, as we can all travel within Chile if we take care of ourselves and follow the public health measures.”

“Chile, your best bet”

Tourism is an important source of employment throughout Chile, which is why the Tourism Undersecretary’s Office and SERNATUR hold these events. Given that the industry is getting ready for travel to resume, “Chile, your best bet” will also offer training opportunities and networking among businesses participating in the matchmaking events.

“Chile, your best bet” hopes to bring together all of the entities that are part of the national tourism ecosystem, including companies, academia and, of course, travelers, who will be able to interact on the platform and access news and information about each region’s must-see destinations.

Upcoming events will focus on Antofagasta, the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, Biobío and Aysén (November 3 and 4); Atacama, O’Higgins, La Araucanía and Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica (November 10 and 11); and Arica, Coquimbo, Maule and Los Ríos (November 17 and 18).
