Sputnik- Russia: IMF projects that Chile’s economy will grow 6% this year due to rapid vaccination
The Chilean economy will grow 6% in 2021 thanks to the rapid COVID-19 vaccination process and public policies implemented during the last few months of the pandemic, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects.

The projection represents an improvement over last month's IMF numbers, which estimated that Chile would grow by 5.8% in 2021. This is mainly due to the speed with which Chilean officials have moved forward with the mass vaccination process over the past few weeks. Thus far, 4,225,613 of the country’s 19 million inhabitants have been vaccinated.

“In the medium term, there will be a solid upsurge of economic growth, stimulus policies will progressively be removed, and the unemployment rate will drop to around 7% (from the current rate of 11.6%),” the IMF reports.
