This recognition is in addition to the prize awarded to Chile, for the sixth year in a row, as Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, due to its diverse landscape and the practice of outdoor sports.
”We are so proud to have won the first destination award of the year in the World Travel Awards Program, South America category. This coveted award optimizes our positioning as a global destination making it even more attractive and captivating. Our geography is not only extraordinary and diverse but we also count with the talent to develop travel-related infrastructure and services that offer unique experiences to travelers. We hope that everyone will be as amazed as we are by our landscape and by Chilean hospitality once our borders are opened,” said Constanza Cea, CEO at Imagen de Chile.
Chile also won three additional WTA awards this year: Santiago was recognized as South America’s Leading Festival & Events Destination 2020; the Atacama Desert was chosen as South America’s Leading Romantic Destination for the third year in a row, beating other iconic contenders in the region such as Buenos Aires, Cartagena de Indias and Río de Janeiro, and for the second time, Chile got top honors in the Leading Nature Destination category.
