The eighth round of negotiations in the modernization of the commercial plank of the Association Agreement between Chile and the European Union (EU) opened today. As in the last round, held in May 2020, the negotiations will be held virtually. The technical teams of the two parties will progress on the basis of inter-session talks held in July and September.
The Chilean delegation is headed by the Director General of Bilateral Economic Affairs of the International Economic Relations Undersecretary's Office (SUBREI), Felipe Lopeandía; the EU delegation is led by the Head of the Latin American Unit of the Directorate-General for Trade of the European Commission, Paolo Garzotti.
During the week, sessions will be held between the technical teams for environmental matters, intellectual property, technical barriers to trade, market access, customs and trade facilitation, rules of origin, competition, public procurement, gender and trade, transparency, services and investment, etc.
