The Second Round of Modernization of the European Free Trade Association concluded successfully
On May 5th, with the meeting of Chief Negotiators, concluded the Second Round of Negotiations with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), towards an updated Free Trade Agreement with Chile.
Throughout this round of negotiations - that lasted four days and was held in a virtual way – participated 120 officials of the negotiating teams and related agencies from EFTA´s countries and Chile.
The constructive discussions that took place allowed substantive progress on various matters, such as market access, services, trade facilitation, intellectual property and sustainable development, among others.
Both parties gave positive signs regarding the advance of this process and pledged to comply with an ambitious work plan in the coming weeks, in order to review its progress again before the start of the European summer.
EFTA is composed by Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
