The new equipment will be added to the ventilators in Chile’s healthcare network.

The President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera has today received a shipment of 72 mechanical ventilators of the PB 560 model, which have life support functionality. They will be added to those already available in the healthcare network.

“We're receiving 72 new mechanical ventilators, which means we’ll have over 622 mechanical ventilators available where people need them. Meanwhile, we can assure all our fellow Chileans that we are going to take all the measures that are necessary and at the right time,” emphasized the President.

This shipment is among the Government’s measures to respond to the global coronavirus pandemic. The other measures include bringing forward the opening of the following hospitals: Padre Las Casas, Angol, Viña del Mar and Ovalle, and Félix Bulnes in Santiago. These hospitals will add a combined total of 1,700 extra beds to the public health network. This is in addition to the various economic measures to help citizens that have been announced.

“Yesterday we spoke about the Plan Retorno Seguro (safe return plan) because we have to protect people’s health and lives, of course, but we also have to protect the jobs, family income, and quality of life of all our fellow Chileans,” concluded the President.
