Interior Minister Gonzalo Blumel and National Assets Minister Julio Isamit this morning announced from La Moneda Palace that a COVID-19 territorial viewer containing official Health Ministry information is now available, which anyone in Chile can access by visiting the official government website www.gob.cl or the National Assets Ministry’s website www.bienesnacionales.cl. This initiative has come about in the context of a commitment made with the COVID-19 Social Roundtable. Its aim is to facilitate access to the information available about COVID-19 in Chile.
“We would like to provide easy access for all citizens who want to know about COVID-19 in our country. We know that this is key in making decisions and in taking care of everyone. In doing so, we are meeting one of the commitments made with the COVID-19 Social Roundtable, which highly values these platforms,” said Minister Gonzalo Blumel.
National Assets Minister Julio Isamit added, “we know that the Chilean people are very concerned about this health emergency. In order for them to have more information and be able to make better decisions, at National Assets we have prepared this territorial viewer that will show all the Health Ministry’s information in a georeferenced manner at national, regional, and municipal levels.”
“We have followed the model of other international platforms that are highly valued by the public because we are sure that if people have more information, they will be able to make better decisions, be more responsible, more supportive and ultimately help us all to take care of one another,” he said.
The COVID-19 Territorial Viewer (Visor Territorial COVID-19) is available to the public and contains the following information:
Tables with statistics at a national and regional level: this shows an information panel with the total number of confirmed cases, the new cases that day, the number of patients in a critical condition, the number of deaths, the number of recovered patients and the total amount of tests performed. In addition, it shows a graph with the daily progress per region of confirmed cases, deaths, tests performed, new cases, and hospitalized patients. This is updated using the information from the Health Ministry’s daily report.
Active cases by municipality: red dots show the total number of active infected cases in each municipality. This data is obtained from the epidemiological report issued approximately every 48 hours.
Active cases per 100,000 people by municipality: a layer of different shades of blue is displayed, showing the rate of active cases per 100,000 people per municipality. This indicator allows a comparison to be made between districts with different-sized populations.
Municipalities under quarantine: a dark green layer shows which districts (or sections of them) are under quarantine, specifying on the map which part of the municipality is affected.
Municipalities with a cordon sanitaire: a purple layer shows the municipalities that are surrounded by a cordon sanitaire.
Graphs with daily advances: the viewer also shows the daily advance of these statistics. This level of detail is shown for each region for confirmed cases, deaths, tests performed, new cases, and patients in intensive care units (ICU). It also shows information at a regional level for active cases, which is updated every 24 hours according to the Coronavirus Report issued by the Health Ministry.
